Course Details

If you’re planning a career in Child Care, here’s your chance to prepare for a wide range of roles.

Whether you’re planning to work in a nursery, crèche or pre-school setting, or in a nannying or babysitting environment, this course will serve as the perfect introduction to a fascinating subject and provide a sound foundation for your future career. That’s because it has been very carefully designed to give you a good all-round knowledge of the entire child care sector catering for children of any age from 0 to 11.

For instance, you’ll start by covering all you need to know about the current laws and regulations concerning child protection, children’s rights and health and safety. And then, with that foundation firmly in place, you’ll go on to gain a thorough understanding of everything involved in providing for children’s developmental and learning needs - from earliest childhood, right through to age 11.

By the end of your training you’ll have a keen appreciation of the role of learning and development in child care settings, and the legislative context in which child carers operate. You will also have a good understanding of the interpersonal skills child carers need to have, along with a good understanding of early education frameworks.

Thanks to its comprehensive nature, the general child care skills and knowledge you gain on this training will go on serving you throughout your career. Plus, you’ll earn a qualification - the NOCN* Level 3 Diploma in Child Care, Learning and Development - that will help you stand out when applying for jobs.

Start learning today from as little as £1.09 a day.

Qualifications

Upon successful completion of your ten written assignments you will be eligible for the National Open College Network (NOCN) Level 3 Diploma in Child Care, Learning and Development.

The NOCN* is a leading UK awarding body recognised by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, and this award will satisfy the current OFSTED requirements for people planning to work in a child care environment in a wide variety of roles.

In addition, this course will equip you to take the GOAL Level 3 National Vocational Qualification in Children’s Care, Learning and Development at the end of your training. This qualification meets the current Sure Start standards and, if you plan to run a nursery or child care facility, such a recognized qualification is essential. (Please note, however, that if you wish to apply for this qualification you will need to contact your local GOAL centre direct, and arrange it on your own initiative.)

*Accredited in England & Wales
